He's only like that to the people he knows are bad from his previous life. That or because it's part of his plan to prevent his past (their future) from happening. He's always been kind to the people who fought for the city or he knows are trustworthy.

Yes he does have more knowledge but it is because he faced horrible things in his previous life and was forced to evolve fast to survive. Like with the ghost ancestor first encounter, it’s not his fault if he doesn’t know another way he was stuck at the same place for years no need to act conceit towards him...
