Jin-woo uses the knowledge that Kim-chul will attack him out of spite (after waking up from being knocked out), to kill Kim-chul and turn him into a shadow soldier. If it wasn't for Kim chul's ghost, Jin-woo would have lost against the Hyakki. The Hyakki boss reveal an interesting fact - all the monsters in the dungeon have a voice in their head telling them to kill humans - but he doesn't hear this voice when he sees Jin-woo. Jin-woo hypothesizes that it's because he's a new kind of entity - a player. Jin-woo is unable to turn the Hyakki boss into a shadow soldier - most likely because the skill difference between Jin-woo and the boss was too high.

Jin-woo exits the gate. Baek-ho's leader is waiting. Jin-woo finds that he has become much more powerful - even so that he doesn't think a fight with Baek Yoon-ho would be an utter defeat. Basically after hearing the story from the B-rank magician (Heejin?), Baek Yoon-ho realizes that the White Tiger guild owes a debt to Jin-woo and immediately tries to recruit him (but fails)

In america, an odd gate opens. In which there are no monsters, just a human. This human is brought to the hunter association under the suspicion of simply being a monster in disguise. Turns out he is Jin-woo's dad - who got trapped in a gate many years ago - who has returned to save the world from things that are worse than the gates. However, he is unlucky and is interrogated by a US hunter who speaks Korean... the S-rank hunter whose older brother Jin-woo killed. It turns into a fight, the S-rank hunter tells the association that Jin-woo's dad is actually a monster. Jin-woo's dad is so strong, he fights the S-rank hunter, wins, and then disappears.

Jin-woo finishes the remaining C gates that he promised. He returns to the dungeon opened by the blessed box's key. This dungeon consists of levels. As he climbs to the 75th level, he is able to gain the reward from a quest that was offered inside the dungeon. The rewards include a surprise item - a magical treatment that can potentially heal his sick and unconscious mother at the hospital. This is now his highest priority.

Back in the real world, Jin-woo gets re-evaluated for his rank. Surprise, he is now an S-rank! Everyone is interested in recruiting him - including the Hunter association who's chairperson is a formidable S-rank hunter. The chairman doesn't want any of the 5 guilds in Korea to gain superiority over the others. However, Jin-woo says that he doesn't want to work for the association because he wants to fight in dungeons and association employs do not enter high level dungeons. The chairman respects this and decides to help/watch over Jin-woo even though his offer was rejected.

Side notes. Chairman is very ill. He worries that the association won't be able to hold the guilds in check without him. This theme is also apparent when Jin-ho asks his father to be put in charge of the company's hunter guild. His father (who is very wealthy and powerful) reveals he is not interested in the products in the dungeon and cutting out the middle man - he is more interested in creating a group of hunters that are loyal to him to protect him. He foresees the hunters becoming so powerful that no law will be able to keep them in check. Jin-ho reveals that he will be joining Jin-woo's new guild. On another another side note - apparently the ant monsters on Jeju island (the S-rank gate that was never closed), have mutated to form wings and their dead bodies have been washing up on the coast of Japan).

Jin-woo is no longer in hiding and quite a few people have witnessed first hand his current power (Hunter association representatives, Hunter guild (there is another guild named "Hunters") members, White tiger guild members). He shows he can take out a A-rank gate alone. His shadow soldiers now number ~100.

You may ask - why isn't he going to save his mother like he said. Well - he had to wait a couple days for the S-rank to come through. He's using his S-rank to buy supplies so that he can clear the dungeon opened by the blessed box key (the tower gets hotter as the level increases). He wants to clear the dungeon because the materials for the treatment can be found in the dungeon. I'm up to the point where he's about to sell an item at the Hunter Auction, which obviously turns out to be a super rare magic amplification item.

Side note: Baek Yoon-ho has a pretty good suspicion that Jin-woo is unlike any other hunter - and that he can actually increase his rank. He found out by comparing the power he felt from Jin-woo outside the red gate vs. when he met him again, after the S-rank re-evaluation.
