I agree that is seems like a shame to be apart for so long, but at the same time, they needed to grow independently too. The time wasn't wasted if the growing they did could allow them to be together. The time apart wasn't lost as long as they were able to experience things that helped them be more accepting of themselves, each other and their relationship. I've had a lot of bad things happen in my life and I could lament the past, but THAT would be a waste. All those things, bad and good, made me who I am today. I can't change the past, but I can learn from it. Improve myself and my life by understanding the lessons my experiences have taught me. Even if I could change the past, I wouldn't. Who knows who I'd be if I did?

They wasted their 8 years being apart by misunderstandings, when they could've been together. Wth man, that's a too much waste.
