Entertainment exists to fulfill the urge for fantasy, no matter how fluffy or how vile. So if people like a story with taboos to either serve as a plot device, character development, or just plain old shameless fan service, its really not hurting anyone. I don't know of a single case where yaoi or shoutacon has been used as propaganda to make things like rape or pedophilia okay. And if there is, and someone thinks because its on TV, a book, a videogame, or a manga it's okay, we should lock that person up, not persecute a random author.
