The kids eyes

Why do they cover the kids eyes? I live in a country that thankfullt us relatively free feom earthquakes so i dont get it. Can someone pleae explain?

    I think (not sure) that it's because his eyes may not be used to the light since he was under the debris for a long time (even if we don't know how much time he stayed there)

    That's exactly it. The sudden brightness can cause permanent retinal damage.

    Even without earthquakes you should able to know that staying in dark place for so long, then suddenly someone open the lights without warning that you stared at it your eyes would hurt.

    Same goes staying in sunlight for so long when going to a less bright area you see light illusions.
    It will take a while before your eyes adapt to its environment.

    Since our eyes is very sensitive. Having a shock to the eyes can severely damaged it forever.

    Must adapt eyes slowly.

    Never knew that thanks for leting me know. I Only thought looking straight at the sun is the only way to damage your eyes

    There are more ways to damage your eyesight. Do not stare to close to your screen/tv.
    If you watch Anime you get that warning a lot.
    Also not to get close to your paper either while writing.

    That's how most people wear glasses. (Staring at computer screen for to long). Other people so lucky with stronger eyes.
    (So I blame genetics too LOL)
