tread lightly

Tragedy tag + doomed summary = brace yourself for drama, crazy frustrating political conspiracies and schemes. Oh and this is set in Joseon. Even better, we'll have petty inner court drama too. Prologue is too soon to say though I say it's grabbed some intrigue for now especially since I was surprised it is set in Joseon (i'm getting used to seeing a bunch of stories set in a fictional medieval western world). I like a good historical fiction so time will tell.

Yes! I hope somebody would pick this up.

Do you have other recommendations like this (set in Korean setting) that are not kdramas? I think this is a first for me as Chinese ones are plenty.

There are quite a few out there actually, but they stay untranslated. Unless the work got a kdrama adaptation, they don't typically receive much attention. Not many groups want to take on this type of genre either for whatever reason (lack of interest, maybe?)... One example is "Before the footprint melts" that got abandoned after only 4 chapters in. But you can also check out Yeonmo, which has a similar imperial setting, but the story is more shoujo & it's actually from a manhwa book. At least that one got translated to the end...

there are chinese aplenty and medieval west as well. Unfortunately sageuk is few and far between. Not sure if it's because of the lack of the required skillset or the lack of supply. unfortunately I can't help with the recommendation even though I wish I could; hence my surprise this is joseon. and agree w/ Yuki, Yeonmo is the only one I could honestly recommend off the top of my head. Mostly i've only seen manhwas, not webtoons.

Nah I don't like shoujo that much (I dark/ serious stuff) but thanks anyway for the reply. Such a pity cuz I want to know Korean historical setting even if they're novels!

I have to search sageuk in order to know what you're talking about lol. But speaking of that, I encountered some of them and there's even a BL one (can't remember them though)!
