Hmmm... i didn't hate him in the other story. When i was reading the other story for the first time before even knowing Love Nest, i still could sympathize with him. The author made it already a little bit clear there. Even his expressions and some other things were giving away that he was a lonely person with his reasons. And he was in love with Ikou so it hurt more.
Naru was elected as the best supporting character of Dear+ magazine at least four times (chapter1,chapter2,chapter3 and chapter 8 as I can remember).
I also wondered if the author would write his spin off but it hasn't been announced or decided yet. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Nooooo are you serious????? Do they know something we don’t? If Naru is a “supporting” friend then I’d rather not have friends lol.
He seemed like a nice person before chapter 7 and a lot people here also liked him in the early chapters.
But after chapter 7 came out... ew...I don't know, Japanese girls selected him, ask them.
I am still annoyed by how Masato acted towards the other couple in the first story. And it's the same reason I can't stand Naru, now. So no hearing Naru's sad backstory will not make me dislike his actions any less. It's worse in Naru's case because he obviously doesn't feel regret for pulling the same kind of crap that he warned Masato against.

But! Thinking back on it now, I was annoyed with Masato’s character the first time he was introduced in the other couple’s story as well. He was portrayed as a random meddling 3rd wheel without a proper back story, and everybody HATED him for it (you can go back and check those comments). Then the author started to reveal a little bit of depth in his story and that’s why we forgave him. Now that he has his OWN series, we sympathize with Masato even more.
So maybe....just MAYBE....this can be the case for Naru and we just have to wait for his spin off. As of right now though, Naru is still a real fucker
