A lot of baby girls have been killed for decades and now men can have trouble trying to marry because there are very few women. So sometimes they even kidnap married women to rape them and be able to have children, taking turns between different males of the family.
I don't know about it first hand and I guess it depends of where un China, but women seem to be really despised.

is rape legal in china or something?? why are all these shoujo manhua webtoons romanticizing it?? and it's always the same trash lines "you little imp" "you're playing with fire" "you tempted me" to a sleeping or drugged up woman; like wat?????? and then forcing them into marriage after?? these are all always the same repeated disturbing route. i wanted to like this cuz plot sounded maybe like something good to pass the time but - wth
