I may be wrong but I think she just called Chihiro over to hand his mother's diary over to him
While she did consider taking him in she realises that Chihiro and Madoka are close to each other and will probably not do it considering the fact that she may hold herself responsible for her daughter's death
But author, really, cliffhangers after cliffhangers. Just tell me what the grandma is trying to do already!
