So true, this is all too suspicious / as a member of the court Irene would know what would cause gossip (humiliate Charti) especially something like walking with the prince as a "Regina". Yet apologises for the gossip she caused... HMMMMMM is that BS I'm sensing (⊙…⊙ )
So Irene knows that the prince humiliated Charti and was a part of it, but also defended her when others started to gossip about her. I don't blame Irene if this innocent act is fake (since Charti was a bitch to her in the past), but maybe she couldn't stop the prince's decision either. I don't know her true colors
