this actually happened. i was here when this was being updated. the updates stopped for a while and people started to send links of the author's comments (i think they were on twitter) that they're disappointed about their work being illegally distributed.
you can check the comments here if you're interested but it might take you a while.

The author became aware that this has been spreading out illegally and probably just ended it quickly.
