Already mediocre movies, actors, actresses are winning oscars.

Also this story was long way below mediocre.

There will always be people who will try to curb opinions that they don't like.
This story has had a valid criticism since the middle and it's expected and normal for readers to vent their frustration.
This is NOT the same as talking to the author so don't even try to assign this kind of charge on people here.
People are allowed not to like something and they are allowed to criticize it.
It's amazing how many readers think that just because they like something they have the right to tell others that they should not talk bad about it.

They are plenty. And imagine if not even criticism existed. According that those persons, every single piece of shit should be praised just because the artist created.
Saying that a mediocre story who didn't had good developed characters, that didn't present a good plot should not be criticized because the story was created is the stupidest logic someone could put forward to defend a work.
if anything, it's also patronizing to the artist. We don't live in a kindergarten anymore where our stick figures that are meant to be a cat look more like a dead fish and we still get a gold sticker from the teacher and get our work on the wall along with the nicely done tree from our talented precocious friend.

That's how dictatorship works: only positive propaganda allowed.
Whenever you have a mob mentality that justifies censorship of criticism and upsetting things and then gives the power to some people to say what should be allowed or not to be written and said, we lose.

"To the person" hahahahahaahahahahahaha that was good. And what a fucking long comment, I didn't even read everything, just this and that.
I'm just saying: be careful with what you say because sometimes the author can read it. I'm not putting a knife on anyone's throat and saying "just write good things". There are many ways to say you didn't like something without being rude. What you call free of speech can ruin someone's life. Artists (writers, painters, movie makers) are people too. Because of harsh criticism, some of them drop their jobs because of insecureness. Hate leads to nothing but more hate. I'm not taking anyone's right to dislike something. Criticism can be good, you can be a better person learning from your mistakes. I'm saying you can be polite while doing it. In other words: don't be a dick.
So MY lesson for the day is: BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU SAY.

Artists who cannot take criticism cannot grow. When I was in art school, we are encourage to critisize each other. That is how we grow. While admittedly, it is hard to admit that the creation that you painstakingly made may not be good, it is worse to only listen to praise and stay in comfort zone. Nowadays, people are too easy to get offended, too sensitive, too much safe space, that any criticism are seen as offense. It is really sad honestly.

THAT is the problem. You just don't understand the full concept of what the original poster was saying. Even this mentality of altering your language or how you say something in order to make someone else feel better or less shitty is just plain stupid. Freedom of speech is freedom of speech for a reason. If one cannot take criticism of any sort in any way, then that person shouldn't be in this field...its really that simple. You do realize that other people's words can't make anybody else do anything. The behavior is down to the person themselves. Because if we went by your logic, video games would be completely banned or censored in a way since there's a belief of 'violent' video games leading to young children to behave violently. But that's not how it works. Someone else is not responsible for how the audience of theirs reacts. This whole idea about being polite is too vague. Anybody can interpret something OBJECTIVELY polite as extremely disrespectful so there's no point in pushing that kind of agenda.

Finally someone who understands the true meaning and importance of freedom of speech. Someone who has common sense...a phrase we should just change to something else because its is not common from what I can tell. Thank you for being a realistic, smart, logical human being. LOL I'm being so dramatic but seriously, I just haven't seen many in these or any other comment sections

lol OP wrote a whole novel.
To the person ( persons) who insist on trying to guilt people into censorship: Shame on you.
Actually, this is the lesson of the day: No art ever is automatically worth of praise just because somebody did it. If that was the case, the museum would be filled with shitty paintings that took hours for some untalented person to do instead of masterpieces from geniuses who might as well have done it in minutes.
First of all, as you said, this is an illegal site and no comment here is meant directly to the author. Harassing people on their official account is for jerks but also only a jerk can think of shame people into shutting their opinions in a free zone like this.
Second of all a most important part. No artist ever is entitled to praise just because something was created. If people couldn't tell what is mediocre from what is good, there would be no point ever to value a masterpiece or give an award for talent.
A person can put all their passion and labor into something and there is a credit to it but guess what? It doesn't make it automatically worth of praise. If that was the case I would be selling my shitty watercolors in a museum. If that was the case, a shitty movie - what by the way also involve a lot of work -- would be winning an oscar.
This story was mediocre, the characters were mediocre and using such a shameful guilt-tactic to censor people opinion is not only wrong but really bad for art in general.
Imagine an world where no bad things could be sad about a product. Imagine that the only opinion on something should follow a script. Actually this kind of archaic mentality exists. This is no different that what China does with their 'only good things should be shown' and thus censor whatever they think is bad. That is the problem with your logic: a world where mediocre things can't be criticized and only good things are allowed to be said out loud.
This is wrong and dangerous.
