I have a random theory on how his power works. So, you know how different parts of your body is connected to neurons, which is connected to your brain. And how the neurons will send signals to your brain and stuff via electric currents, or something similar, and the brain would send signals back telling the body part what to do. Well, what if the death command-thingy is actually not commanding death, but instead, just him telling the brain to send a signal to the heart, or some other organ, to stop, meaning death, or something. Or maybe it's just him stopping the brain. Huh.... Whatever. ╮(￣▽￣)╭ As for inanimate objects, let's just say he used the force or something.
