As if you don't realize people can react to fiction in a way they'd not react to real life. As someone who has worked with people with domestic violence, drug addiction, abandoned kids, etc, there is a way you deal with compassion. But that doesn't mean you point out where they are shits, themselves. We all have shitty sides. We may be kind about X and do good about Y, and then be selfish about Z or bigotted about ABC. That;s humans. I can feel sorry for Theo and still think she's done her brother a disservice, that she's only thought about herself and not his suffering.

Thanks on your input. I put that “this is just a manga” because I’ve had my fair share of people saying “calm down, this is just fiction” so I felt the need to beat them to it. And I am self aware that people can react differently irl as oppose to how they act online or react to fictional things. However, you must also realize that their are some who sadly don’t and are rude either way. There are people who are incentive to those types of topics and I’ve encountered my fair share of those people, whether it was directed towards me or I just happened to witness it. On another note, I rarely speak out about these things and express my disappointment on this website, I just read to many of those types of comments calling her a bitch and it got to me. Doesn’t mean that I see Theo as a complete angel.

And guess what: your comment will not change their minds if they are that hard-hearted. :) I think it's normal without backstory to judge solely on what you see on the page. And let's face it, we do that in real life. With rare exceptions, we judge based on what we see hear superficially, when we don't know all the struggles of a person. Say, we see a report on a child rapist. We aren't about to have huge compassion right off. But if we hear about how they were starved, beaten and raped by a psycho parent, we feel compassion, even if we realize what they did requires we punish them.

Theo is being unfair to Craig, but now we understand the WHY--which we did not have before. We didn't know, so we could only see that she was being selfish and mean, especting the brother to cater to her when he was basically in a life-or-death, working all the time situation with no hope. If my brother was working his fingers to the bone to provide for my food, shelter and schooling while fending off loan sharks, I'd like to think I'd want to forgive him for whatever he di din the past, cause, honestly, he could just abaondon me and move to another country to get away from loan sharks. But he sticks it out and cares for me? That's a brother trying to atone. That deserves brownie points. We see that and we see that they are both traumatized in their ways, Theo perhaps moreso due to youth and abandonment issues.

Theo is selfish, but so are mostly all kids. Theo is afraid of being abaindoned, but so are most kids who have gone through something that puts their security at risk. I had an absolute terror of being orphaned as a kid....it was like nightmare number one. And I think I see that in Theo: Craig is all she has and Craig is also someone she has a grudge over. Push. Pull. I get it.

You do realize that I’m not arguing that she isn’t selfish or that Craig is in the wrong, right? My comment was directed towards the people who are being extra harsh and insensitive with their words. I’m fully aware that it’s not gonna change minds, just speaking my mind like everyone else. If my comment was about the story and explaining the situation then I would agree with your statement(s). I agree with most of the rational explanations on this comment section of the manga, just not the ones that are blatantly calling her a bitch and saying they don’t care about the back story. It’s those I have a problem with. It’s always agree to disagree in these comment sections anyways. Just want to be clear on that. Anyways, I wasn’t being sarcastic, seriously thanks on your input.

you are truly a despicable human being. the fact that some people that look at horrific issues and turn the blind eye and have a rebuttal is truly beyond me, even if someone's nice and baked a cake for their neighbor but murdered someone or raped their child, doesn't make whatever they did any better, it doesn't change the fact they chose to do something horrid. please change your profession, I think it's getting to you.

I'm speaking reality. People turn a blind eye to things all the time. I'm arguing that Theo is wrong in her self-centeredness, but it's understandable at the same time given trauma. You disagree with this?
