From memory (I read about 70 out of the now 700+ chapters ages ago), he doesn't have strong feelings for anyone other than his master, he just keeps helping/impressing various girls along the way, who all end up enamoured to varying degrees. At that stage, it wasn't the worst harem, but I still didn't like that aspect.
ikr? i mean, it's good that the feelings of the many girls are only one-sided but it doesn't clear the fact that he's still surrounded by many who have feelings for him. tbh i'm not a fan of reverse harem either. basically not a fan of harem not gonna lie ╮(￣▽￣)╭
Yeah, same! I like a good surrounded-by-loyal-or-affectionate-companions/entourage type of MC every now and then, but anything more always feels inane, pointless and annoying.
Female protag stories. Pretty sure that's the only way to get isekai stories that aren't harem. Though, I guess it still runs the risk of reverse-harem. And annoying shoujo drama. But it seems much more common in female protag for the romance to be kept on a one-on-one level.

i went and checked out the novel because it sounded good and freaking hell, his obsession with is issue was already a major flag. fuck, i checked the tags for the novel and sure enough: harem. CAN PEOPLE PLEASE STOP THE HAREM!? Like, i just want to enjoy some martial arts, action and basically non-existent romance okay?
