People are freaking out over him panicking over the fact that the taller guy is gay. It makes sense for him to freak out imo. First, he is letting a guy who he doesn't even know stay in his house, alone, with him. Which, that itself is already a stretch. Second, that stranger comes out as gay. Tbh, if I were to be in his situation I'd be wary. Especially since the taller character is bigger and most likely stronger than him.
Not to mention, Asian countries aren't as accepting to gays as Americans, different cultures. They're warming up to them though but still aren't exactly as comfortable.

Yeah, for all he'd know the man could be a murderer or in this case: a rapist. I'm not trying to justify him acting homophobic but I'm just saying that he has a right to act the way he did.
