I don't see how it is wrong to refer to them by their role, it's not even a derogatory term. I just don't feel enough attachment towards the plot to remember their names. And also, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person to use these terms. Why are you so offended by my post when it's is not even the main point? I don't see you commenting on every single topic that refers the MCs as 'seme, uke'.

You can have a preference to how you want to refer a character just like how I have my own preferences. I find it inefficient if you're going to label the characters as 'brown haired guy' and 'black haired guy'. You can do it if you want to, but please don't impose your own preferences onto other people. If you dislike my post or the way I type, just ignore it then.

Um first of all calm down Second of all people can refer to characters anyway they want. No body has to do exactly what you want jeez. Also this just helps people remember the characters if they aren't that attached to the story yet. Yikes this shouldn't even be important

There’s a lot of different yaoi okay? Some yaoi characters are mainly based around them being the uke or seme. Not this one. This yaoi’s characters have a little bit more to them than just their role in sex. That’s why I thought it was weird CreamCheexe used uke and seme as referrals.

Personally I’m ok with the person using those terms since there are people in comment sections of yaoi who do that. It’s actually quite common so I really don’t see the fuss about it.

... I don't really get why people would be offended when others refer to yaoi characters by seme or uke... because EVERY BL story tend to have a defined seme and uke, especially for ones with good plot.
Especially since sekes are rare in BL stories with decent plot. Sekes and unconventional roles are soo much more common in extremely hardcore yaoi and are rare in normal japanese BL.
Seme and uke is a really common way to refer to characters.
On the chinese BL side, fans almost ALWAYS refer to characters by their role in sex and no one ever questions it... even when chinese BL has barely any sex scenes due to the new regulations on webnovels and comics. (╯°Д °)╯╧╧They get demonetized and taken down.
Why? Because their role is the easiest way to distinguish them, and it's a cute way to refer to them.
There are thousands of BL and I definately follow more than 10 BLs at any given period since jap BL tends to only have 5 chapters.
Imagine remebering thousands of names. A person can read around 15 chapters in 2 hours and is equivalent to 3 complete bl stories.... who the heck wants to commit and remember so many names????
