Art is lovely, the point it tried to make was dumb. I don't agree with the way it perceived certain things. Like comparing being a woman to being bad at playing piano. If you a woman you are a damn woman.

She's not comparing being a woman with playing a piano. She's saying that it is normal to want to be someone that your abilities or reality doesn't allow you to be. Like someone wanting to be a successful pianist but who can never reach the level because he or she lacks talent. Or in this case, a man who wants to be a woman but who can't because he has a masculine biological body. It was a way to tell him that he is normal, which is what he needs to hear because a big problem is that he felt abnormal.

So, it was actually a REALLY good comparison...

I definitely got that. I did, and I didn't explain myself properly. But I don't find the comparison good. It's disheartening in many ways. Maybe in some aspects, ya, they won't be able to fully become women or men sex wise. But it's much more complex than that. It's unfair to say it that way. Woman can be muscular. Men can be effeminate. It's looking at it in a very one-sided way when shit like gender is multifaceted. Don't need to compare it that way because I don't think it matches, there is a disparity between those things. As they are and as we understand it, women are women and men are men no matter what they look like like and that is indeed normal. For the story it worked because it was lead to be the thing the MC really wanted to hear. Otherwise I just don't agree with it.

I just noticed you wrote you don't agree and I see that it has more to do with your view of things. Which I respect of course.
In my case, I thought it was beautiful because the comparison is not made in an "A = B" sense, but what he (the bartender) is really comparing is the feeling of not being able to be what you want. He's not comparing being a woman to playing the piano, but the frustration of two persons who, no matter what they do (the one playing piano or the man who wants to be a woman), their reality doesn't let them achieve their goal.

Now, you can say he could get a sex-change surgery, but it is Japan, so it's really not an available option. As for the gender problem, the issue with people who don't like their gender is not that they want to be effeminate or masculine, but mainly that they carry sexual organs that not only feel strange but even disgusting. It is people who feel disgusted about their bodies, because imagine you being a girl and having to carry around a penis. Something like that hehe

Ya for sure, I know it wasn't them comparing to being a pianist and not being good at it and basically not being 100% of what you wish you were....
For me it's much simpler than that. I would hate it if someone used those words to comfort my brother. That's how I feel about it.
Tho I appreciate your p.o.v. because mine is very much personal and humanitarian.
