Trueee! You can almost forget about that because he actually acts caring underneath the cold exterior. He's selfish and rotten until he cares for someone, and then becomes willing to risk himself for them. I love him in a complicated way because without that unflinching apathy he wouldn't be able to protect the ones he loves.
He did regret it when he realized Alex murdered a new person. Clark's justification is that he know's Alex's rules, as many serial killers have, and has been confident that those rules wouldn't be met while they were involved and was effectively keeping people safe from Alex via their involvement until now....which is why he has kicked things into high gear since the most recent murder because he sees Alexs bending his rules and knows people are now in danger again. To be fair, he has done more to protect people in this area than police have been....
"This way I'm the only one that gets killed" Ugh that really got me. But I'm not so sure he's protecting 'people', I see it as he's protecting one person only. He does regret it when Alex kills someone else because it was personal and directly related to him. But if it hadn't been related to him and he knew Alex had done it he wouldn't flinch... That's what I'm still waiting to figure out about him.

I know everyone is saying Clark is shady, but I think he genuinely cares for the psychiatrist. I honestly don't care that he's manipulating Alex because Alex murdered innocent people. My issue with Clark is he's so into having interviews with criminals that he's perfectly fine with them walking around free as if they aren't being shitty people.
