No it happened and the dream was the nightmare caused by his out of character action, and happened years later. He was denying his true self to such an extent and that was the last straw. Real men love baby animals and he does too but now has the burden of that guilt too(subtext). Let's hope he returns to himself soon with the help of this new character.
