That`s the anime. This book is a spinoff of the anime. And like Marvel movies, you need to watch the full episode including after the ending.
The cops are including in the anime and also they have a twitter account that all plays into a timeline. If I'm not wrong it's manga twitter and then the anime from what I've seen being said. The cops aren't the main characters in the anime but their story is being played with the recent episodes
