I don't think, that's what Yukine meant. It was mentioned that they were probably abandoned by slavers in Gaia Forest in an earlier chapter. I'm assuming, Yukine is referring to the slavers.
Ahh...sorry you may have misunderstood me if I can remember correctly at the start of the manga it said the children were abandoned by a slave trader but I may be wrong you seem to have a better understanding of it than me
