Hmmm.... probably an unpopular opinion around here but maybe it's part of Satis' writing style, as an exploration of sorts.

Like Donut in the previous volume, I think Ice is seriously "marrying" below herself. Both her and Donut represent characters who take and forgive a titanic amount of shit from their prospective lovers. Meanwhile... Ploy and Mew continue to bulldoze their way through life & relationships at very little cost to themselves. After all, what has either of them really sacrificed or "swallowed" in their pursuit of Donut or Ice.

I hope nobody believes these sorts of unbalanced relationships experience long term success in the real world...

sadly, it happens in real life probably often than you think,,
i have a close friend who in this kind of relationship, they even got married,,
many people encourage her to think it over many times before she got married.

but in the end if the person who in the relationship think that their lover/partner is the best for them, what can you do? it's their life. the best thing that you can do for them is wish them happiness more than anything, and be there for them whenever she needs you.

as for ratana's style, yeah except for pulse that have balance relationship in it, LL1 and LL2 filled with one of the female lead that doing pretty much anything to get what they want.
but IMO to balance it out and make readers accept things in the story ratana make the other female lead especially ice stronger, reasonable, mature, more fierce than their partner so that it makes sense why inthe end ploy can be "tame" by ice,,

donut for me is like a girl who really patient, accept whatever her partner decide for their life, okay to being dragged along in whatever direction, and decided to wait as long as they got together in the end.

I think it's different for Mew and Donut's relationship because it felt like Mew didn't want to put Donut through everything they went through. It felt like (as I remember) that Mew just wanted to spend time with Donut, but they way things turned out made that harder and forced Donut to make these sacrifices. But even with everything going on it, Mew still tried to spend time with Donut and cared about her feelings. When she learned she was going to Australia for two years she gave Donut the chance to break up with her, but Donut said that she was willing to wait for her to come back. Mew didn't force her to wait, Donut chose to. Maybe it's because I love these two, but I don't want to believe their relationship is like that.
As for Ploy and Ice, I don't have much of an argument for them. It does feel like Ice is the only one putting any effort in their relationship. Ploy just seems to do whatever she wants and expects Ice to deal with it. Hell, even when they have sex Ice is the one doing all the work. I was really hoping this engagement stuff would have lead to more drama. Specifically, I wanted Ice to end their relationship because of it, forcing Ploy to chase after her and not only explain the situation but also tell her that she really does love her. But nope. Ice is the only saving their relationship because of Ploy's stupid plans and her neglect to tell Ice anything about them. I was also hoping there would be a moment in this series where Ploy realizes just how badly she treats people (aside from Ice her friendship with Nadia is just as bad, with Nadia having to do all this shit for her and getting nothing out of it) and then try to improve herself. But the manga treats Ploy like she's perfect the way she is and that she can do no wrong.

Thanks! I think your comments are much more insightful than mine.

I was a little hesitant to lump Mew in with Ploy for some of the same reasons... but I couldn't escape this vaguely nauseous feeling I had when reading their story. Then I realized it's because I've been there.

While Mew had "good intentions", the reality is she dragged Donut thru hell. She brought some truly epic baggage with her which even resulted in a kidnapping. Then her handling of the 2 year thing was to essentially "bind" Donut to her emotionally before revealing her plans (that she had known or "hoped" about for their entire relationship).

I think I have the most hate for people who go thru life hurting others even though they are "innocent" and it's always thru "no fault of their own". Either way, there is a pattern... and the common denominator remains the same.

Contrast to Ploy who at least owns her shit and readily admits she's a selfish bitch. Can't say Ice didn't know what she was getting into. But I hurt for people like that. They want to see the best in someone and they believe that a person can change. While it is certainly not a flaw, it is rather tragic for people like her.

i agree with you for the most part however with donut and mew yes the whole kidnapping thing and baggage was there however the kidnapping falls ENTIRELY on ice's little selfish bitch head plain and simple anybody can see that and yes that is also tied to mew and some of her baggage ie ice however the whole 2 year away thing was a CHOICE that donut made for herself mew flat told her not in so many words if you want out now is the time and donut made her decision to stick with the relationship through it all regardless. now on to ice and ploy first off ice is a selfish bitch we all know this however she does in fact own her shit and honestly saying she does not show ice how she feels i think is a bit off seeing as how if you think back on lily love 1 MEW is the top point in fact she is a HARD top ploy is a bottom that acts like a top ie her bedroom personality and her public persona are different like anybody really and something to keep in mind we are all different with each person we have been with and ANYBODY with eyes in their heads that work can tell ice is a pretty hard top when it comes to ploy and even in lily love 1 she is pushy back to ice now ice is ice she has a strong personality and she does not hold back when she has something to say and yes she has had to deal with a ton of shit however when it comes to her crashing the engagement the reason i think ploy did not say anything is because of how fast the whole plan so to speak came together to remove her little sister from the situation as for nadia if you did not pay attention she is getting PAID for what she does for ploy though honestly i think ploy and nadia were hooking up at some point in time which i would honestly not like to see any flash backs of . as for mook and her relationship the so called mother figure is still going to give them a ton of shit but i think they will make it the so called mother figure on the other hand i think is only married to the girls father because her real love broke her heart to be with a man
