the girl who gains the light spirit king is actually hated by the light spirit king. The light spirit king waited until the heroine ruined herself by trying to slander the MC in public before she broke their bond then contracted herself to MC. This resulted in MC maintaining her black hair (since she's still contracted to the dark spirit king) but her skin turning white, which basically makes her look unique and more beautiful to the eyes of the public. MC is obviously aware of the changes in the public attitude which makes her go :blobwoah:, especially towards her parents and servants.

Prior before this change, her servants are so rude that they cause a fit and basically scream/stir up rumors about her during her childhood. They made it seem like she's some kind of demonic child when she didn't even do anything, they just panicked and fainted over nothing. As she grows up, this adds onto why her attitude becomes very indifferent towards others (basically because she has been isolated or harassed her entire life). MC later gets a little brother whom actually wants to get close to her, but because of their mother, MC isn't allowed to interact with him. There was an incident where he fell out of the window but was saved by MC, but because of a rude maid, she tried to spread false rumors about MC trying to harm the brother. That maid gets fired soon after. Later when the parents decided to send the MC off to war, the brother's views towards their parents completely changes.

Of course, regardless of her skin and hair color, she is still able to make friends. One of them in particular is a boy (I think he's one of the prince) who took a great interest towards her and actually fell in love with her as they got to know each other during their youth. Later, he confess his feelings for her and they end up getting married. When the MC went to war, she was viewed greatly by the soldiers when they saw her abilities with dark magic, which basically caused them to win the war faster along with not much casualties on their side........................................................ i'm really disappointed that her spirit king isn't the male lead

This is such BS... I thought it was fairly original to have a MC with dark skinn, but the author just change it back to a generic black hair, black hair and white skin MC...

It is because they see fair skin as beautiful while dark skin as ugly, rebelious, undesired!!!

The same with curly hair, my best friend is asian with natural curly hair and people used to say she will have a bad temper when she grown up because women with curly hair have bad/strong temper (she straight her hair so I discovered she has natural curly hair because her childhood photos), they also are seen as ugly and/or abnormal!!!

And in some asians countries, like some places in China, if a woman has a little darker skin color or a small scar they are seen as ugly, worse if they have freckles, they are seen as defectives (according what my Chinese friends told me)!!!

Born Chinese girl, light skin == rich people who don't work in the fields. They want to project that notion they are rich aristocrats who were pampered all their life and don't work hard labor. [See idea of one long finger nail on elderly Chinese.]

Any marks on skin (blemish, scar, birthmark) == marks from hard life.

They want to perpetuate the "idea of a good life" in their physical self. [Just like the majority who obsess over designer/luxury goods]

I'm glad about that last. Gerald is the one who caused her her problems in the first place, after all.

no he didn't he protected her as her spirit people are just ignorant and narrow minded and thought she was a horrible person because of her powers, skin color etc

You didn't read the first part of the story or what? He's the one who drew her into this world in the first place. If he'd left her alone she either could have just moved on completely or maybe been drawn into another life with a happier ending. He' may not be as responsible for her horrible life as the people who have prejudices but he is more responsible than she is. Thx.

In the novel people already think she is stunning while.having dark skin, the problem is that in order to make their readers think she became more beautiful the writer must follow her readers beaty standards, in ither words, fair skin!!!

Is like in USA, beauty standards indicate women must be slim, fashionable, ladylike and for some time blond (that is why Marilyn Monroe changed her hair to blond), example, Betty la fea (ugly Betty), she was not ugly, she was not into fashion... in many stories the ugly girl become pretty when she began to use make-up and fashionable clothes, or when she becomes slim (if she was fat) or ladylike (if she was a tomboy)... there are even movies that the girl was seen ugky because she didn't have a tan (there was a time in the 90s and early 00s where the beauty standard was having a tan)

Sadly, asians countries become pretty is being slim and white, women put their skin in danger using products to make them whiter, even when Haiti had its earthquake and people need help, SK people sent them whitening creams because they saw in tv they have dark skin...

Add centuries to closed cultures, so they hardly seen other races, she in youtube videos of black people who live in asians countries like Japan, they are seen as something rare and they even take photos, there is a half korean half black k-pop singer who get a lot of critique because she doesn't follow the beauty standards in a country where women can have problem getting a job if they don't look like the beauty standards...

It is not a good thing, people is and can be beautiful regardless their skin color, those countries still need to open themselves, racism is really strong in asians countries, in fact, asians can be seen even more racist than white people seeing some even avoid any skin contact and even orefer being touched by a robot than a person from another country...

Sadly, the author is only following the way people think in her country, she would have a lot of problems people accepting her character became better if she doesn't follow her customers standards, and, as I have read, many times authors don't have that much freedom, many times the publishing companies take decisions for them, I have read mangakas complain they change their characters names, many times how they look... and you will see, in mangas and novels a really beauty is a really white woman with silk black hair, ugly girl has freckles and curly hair...

I have even seen a manga based of an occidental novel of twins, one of them was seen stunning beauty and the other ugly, the beautiful twin have black straight silk hair and white skin and the ugly has freckles, a natural tan and curly hair!!!

Ye tbh it would’ve been more unique with the darker skin but ofc it has to change it to fair skin which it boring, I’m not trying to be rube but I’m just saying it’s took common we need something new when it comes to manga like having more darker skin mc leads
