I japanese maou can mean different things like magic king/lord, demon lord,shadow lord so on and so on so I think the translators chose the most common used one, I mean when he got his title they said it meant king of magicians witch is one thing the word can mean
i totally prefer them over the scumbag empire ppl. I would honestly like them if they hadnt involved so many innocent ppl and decided to fuck with everyone else outside the empire too.
I actually like the demons tbh, and I believe given the chance of misfortune Shin would really turn into a demon. I mean, he kinda already has the title of 'Demon Lord' （￣へ￣）that's not really a heroes name no matter how you look at it. The demons just show what limits humans can endure before they break and Shin no matter how much of a good guy he is has some serious berserker potential. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
