perhaps because reality is different? although i do think that one's sexual orientation is to some extent can be fluid, it's much harder in reality for heterosexual people to find attraction to people of the same sex (although not impossible), so if this were realistic they'd remain close friends, not necessarily turning into lovers, and that actually wouldn't be a sad ending
It could be nice if this were a super slow burn. That the crush remained a crush but it helped the gay character grow and learn that he is worthy of basic human kindness. And then a new love interest pops up. Maybe a new coworker or something that gets jealous of the friendship. And after a handful of misunderstandings the coworker confesses.
yes, ofc, but sometimes we like to see a different plot where maybe they gain strength/courage/healing in a platonic friendship and find other love interests.
Again, i'm not against the Mc's ending up together. I actually do like this story. I'm just explaining to OP why people want them to be just friends.
Yes, as plenty of you have said before. The 'unique plot' everyone's been hoping because they don't want the same old predictable plot line. It's easier to find those not in BL, but in places like seinen or close to that genre. People put too much hopes for this story.
It went from "man fukami's such a nice friend getting him away from the abusive bf" > "does he have to be the LI? can't we get a supportive platonic friendship instead???" > "actually, y'know what, maybe it'd be nice if they didn't get together and went their separate ways so miya can find another guy". Wouldn't that make him a supportive side character instead of the main "lead"? I thought people came here for the romance.
Sure thing!

Just a warning, it will make you want to adopt the little brother more than root for the BL couple tho lol. And who knows the little bro might get his own relationship. He needs love either way.
Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to check it out.
And yes, he wouldn't be the romantic lead.
To my understanding, in a BL comic--- MC is the main character, ML is the lead love interest, side characters are the supporting cast. If we have the straight friend (A) as the person who is spectating their gay friend (B) and helping them in their endeavor, that'd still make B and their love interest the actual MC and ML because the main focus isn't the friendship between A and B but rather an outsider's perspective of B and the LI's story. However, if B is the main character, then A would simply be part of the supporting cast.
If A and B are the protagonist and the secondary protagonist respectively, their friendship would be the focus of the story, completely changing the narration. It wouldn't be BL, a romance between two guys. It would be about the camaraderie and hardships they face. Basically, you can have an LGBT relationship in a non-BL story. It's just not sold as a BL manga because it's not what the plot revolves around.

To everyone who is saying that they should just be friends, why do you think that? Because Fukami is straight? This does not make any sense... They are living together and Fukami is also creating a great affection for Miya... This affection is becoming love, so what's the matter? And Miya has always liked Fukami since they started working together...
