Or it could just mean that he doesn't talk on the same wavelength. That would make sense because while all the other boys would be talking about girls and a future that would involve growing up, getting married and having kids - that wouldn't be in store for him. Talking about his own future would make other people uncomfortable or exclude him.
If you think about conversations you have with your friends and imagine how your responses would change if you were gay you'd get it. Even something as simple as talking about a movie you saw can change.
Nah it's probably becuase he has to hide that he is gay and that it's something he plays as fake, to be seen as "normal"
