I'm pretty sure she's not adopted because she said she was the last of Clowan bloodline. So I'm gonna guess that her mom was a royal maid that slept with the king once and ran away when she found out she was pregnant.
Her father was the king of Clowan. I don't know what her mother did, but it said that after her mother's death. The king found her. For his kingdom to be taken over, I think he was in the wrong, because there was no mention yet for why the crown prince took over her kingdom. I think Marie is happy as a maid and I do hope she'd end up with the prince if he is a good person. If not, I hope she takes him down. Either way, everyone else will soon see how capable she is now.
That's why I say Clowan's royal family was adoptive, event though the king is her biological father. She lived almost all her life with her mother, maybe the king needed a heir and remembered her? The only thing that's likely to happen is that the prince will fall in love with Morina... or Marie, that has to happen

The royal family of Clowan is her adoptive family, right? So, what if they were shitty people anyways? I hope so if the prince ends up as the ML, if it isn't like that, I hope the prince falls madly in love with Marie/Morina and suffers and probable that will happen because of that wish "the ability to catch bad people".
