Damn America

Okay so I just saw that America is in discussion about how to solve this:
8/2(2+2)
IT'S NOT 'EITHER 16 OR 1'
IT'S 1
1
DON'T YOU KNOW THE MATH RULES??????
Here's the rules of math, the top needs to be solved first, the bottom last, if there's 2 of the same kind, from right to left:

Being=brackets
Pioneer=powers
Made=multiplication
Darwin=division
A=addition
Scientist=substraction

((I know it makes no sense, but it's easy to remember so whatever))

SO

2+2=4
2×4=8
8/8=1

There you go, peeps.
Spread the knowledge.

    Driving the wrong side of the road
    Speaking a super complicated fucking language
    Getting out of Europe bc they believe they can and then OOPS
    Saying 8÷2(2+2) equals 16

    Literally everyone in this thread said you're wrong and you have the gall and confidence to actually insult them. Rude much.

    But??? That's??? How??? I??? Was??? Thaught??? It???
    Like, on tests, I'm 200% sure I had to put it equals 1 every single time to get ot right
    I'm just really confused???
    Is it that all of my teachers, during my 10 years in school, have ALL been wrong about it?
    It's not like we have different rules for math, right, it's a science???
    I'm honestly, genuinely super confused, and I'm sorry if my way of speaking offended anyone I really am but what???? Even????

    to make it one it needs to be fraction or have another set of brackets that indicates that you want the 8 to be divided by 2(2+2) so it would be 8/[2(2+2)]

    Oh wait okay I see
    So in 8/2(2+2) it's actually like (8/2).(2+2)
    As in 8/[2(2+2)] it would be 8/(2.4)
    That kinda makes sense
    So multiplying and dividing is on the same level, and should be done from right to left, therefore, after solving the brackets, you need to solve the division first, before the multiplication, unless brackets tell you otherwise.
    Thanks!!
    I will bring this up w/ my math teacher though, bc wow haha

    People keep saying the answer is 1 if there are brackets but there are no brackets. I don't understand why people keep adding brackets unless it's an example of how if the answer was supposed to be 1 there would be brackets.

    I don't know about your school but when I was in third grade was were just learning multiplication and division. Punctuation didn't enter into it until pre-algebra.
