Zhi Shu dies from his illness. Jiang Wenxu never sees him again since the day he left. After Zhi Shu dies, Wenxu starts harming himself but remembering Zhi Shu made him clean himself up. He writes a heartfelt letter to Zhi Shu and tells him (in the letter) that he will be waiting for Zhi Shu (even if he's actually never coming back). As for the doctor, he's also left heartbroken. He follows Zhi Shu's request to be cremated and spreads his ashes in Lake Baikal in Russia. It was implied he'll never love again.
