The manga is based on the light novel. There has been several differences between the manga and the web novel.
hopefully they dont make the ML that much of an asshole like the comments are saying

they are saying things like how he removed her jade with out consent she went on a date and the date was mad at her cuz of the scale and what not

yeah thats what i mean i hope they change the manga instead of following the novel. so instead he wouldn't do those things.
sometimes Mangaka will take out characters that they don't like or think won't amount to much so that they don't have to draw as much, only to add them back in later because said character turned out to be more important then they originally thought. They'll also change when a character is introduced so that the story flows a bit better, since novels and mangas have a different format to them. It could be either one of these, or something else entirely. I'm just glad the guy got introduced at all.
