Hmm I don't remember an explanation but maybe there was one (don't feel like going back and looking either) haha. Maybe it's a way to bring gene variety into their community since it seems they always go back to the fox home. Would end up with a lot of inbreeding if they didn't.
Wait so why can't they procreate within their species? Like couldn't his mom find a male fox to procreate with? Or did they mention a reason in one of the previous chapters why they can only mate with humans? Maybe I missed it or I just forgot why but I'm a little curious why they don't mate with their own kinds
