Plot armor isn't bad when it's done well. Unfortunately most author don't know how to make good plot armor.

Plot armor is when MC is protected against dying or permanent damage. Most author do it in a bad way though by making new stuffs appear out of nowhere to protect the MC. While a good plot armor would protect the MC in a believable and realistic way.
You're right, Shades, I was venting while writing but I'm really ok with tropes done well (my favourite is the redemption arc). Also about the plot armor definition, I should add that it's not only the MC surviving everything that makes it bad, it's also when major decisions are based around it and there seem to be no consequences whatsoever: this highlights the plot armor ruining any immersion.
What did I say? At least there's someone caring about Elise's safety here. Oh, he got knocked out so everything's fine now. Proceed with the surgery! Sigh... Again, the author would get mad respect if the grenade exploded in her face and she gets a third resurrection. I hate plot armor with all my soul.
