It's an old song from a musical (Gigi). It's also used in a movie where a 14yo girl on holiday lies in order to make herself seem more interesting in front of the guy she likes. She claims her father is in reality her lover. So a rumor spreads around all the tourists about the pedo old man. Someone asks him to sing a song later and he chooses that song which makes everyone (who's heard the rumor) stand up and walk out.
I freely admit that am an uncultured treestump, but god that's one weird-ass plot for a movie.
