The part where Utou said "I'll pretend I didn't hear that." is so good but so hurtful!!! I expected a cliché forceful kiss at that moment, but this alternative is so much better.
It perfectly encapsulates how nice Utou is and how painful their situation is. He knows if he acknowledged what Sumi said, it'll be harder for Sumi to be with an Alpha that helps Sumi with his Omega issues. He loves Sumi too much to let Sumi endure the problems of Omega heat just to be with him, a Beta.
