Actually, I think it's the opposite.
From how I see it, in the past our mc did not rely on the family at all (thinking they only wanted to take advantage of her and so on). This time around, she's actually having the aunt be by the children's side at least for the time being. The aunt is only trying her best to help our mc raise the children properly, as our mc with her young age would have a hard time doing so (specially since the kids don't even respect her at all). The aunt loves the children, and love isn't only being kind to them but being strict and telling them when they're wrong as well.
I'd like to see how it plays out though, because she might actually be bad news in the future who knows we only got a small glimpse here but from what I saw that's how I understood the scene :)

Might be because Rachel wasn't expecting her always sweet aunt to act that way at all, but indeed it seems we'll have to wait and see! Hopefully we won't wait long :)
