it's more like the frequency of the "i love you" that becomes suspicious
just wake up one morning and randomly say "i love you", like either you want something and you are trying to butter them up or you are dying

Stereotypical Asian parents: tell them that you love them and they will ask you, "Are you feeling sick?" or "Do you want something?" lol
