It's actually kind of normal for this kind of families to keep the bloodline by marrying like this.
It was common in the past through all the world too, mostly in royalty but in superstitious families too where some kind of supernatural power was hold.
I'm not quite sure if now a days they are families keeping up with this tradition in the more rurals parts of Japan, but it totally could be.
Also the incest taboo between cousins is more a western (and new) custom.
I’m fully aware of earths history, but I’m still grossed out. It’s a cute story, but there’s many reasons why family shouldn’t be together. Those reasons can only involve procreation though besides my morals
Actually it's quite rare to encounter a problem breeding into cousins.
Of course it's better for the gene pool to be as different as they can be, but cousins can breed with a low ratio of health problems.
Incest between brothers or a parent, that's where everything goes wrong haha
Married with cousin is quite normal in asian, and we didn't considered it as incest. Please embraced the diversity, when u said it grossed u out, some culture might be offended. (〜￣△￣)〜
