Well you could argue that love is a social construct. Either way, even if it does exist, looking at our history shows that love didn't make much of a difference for the position of women. Men in history mostly wanted a woman because she was pretty or because of her family. Not because they loved her. Big figures like Socrates didn't even look at women as equals. When China had the one-child policy, many girls were sacrificed by their parents because they weren't boys (this was until 2013). I'm not saying that there weren't powerful women figures like the Sparta women, Hatshepsut, Elizabeth I, etc. You just gotta recognize that these women were seen as the exception. The rest were still seen as less valuable to men. Today, there's still highly sexist countries (a waiter didn't let my mom order at a restaurant in Mexico cause my dad was at the table), and back in the day it was worst which makes me think that this story is very much so possible if men had the ability to have magic while women couldn't. The only thing that wouldn't work is having women as slaves. In the new world discovery era, black people were used as slaves because their bodies were suitable for hard work in the scorching sun (horrible, I know). Native Americans weren't able to be used for slave work because they would easily die as they weren't used to hard work. I think women in general would also not survive slave work which would lead to a deficit in women which would lead to adverse effects in the population and way of life.
Although love is what people pursue nowadays, it's more of a recent thing. Women were married to the best suitor or the first suitor. It had nothing to do with love. My gran was like that too. Greed, knowledge, power, and necessity are what shape the world, not love.

Ikr. One thing I hate about this manga is that, it shows nothing good about women. We have like over 10 notable men with unique talents and personality, while there's only 3 women worth mentioning. Freesia does ... nothing except fight over a man, and sanghee's sister is there for comic relief. and Sanghee just stand around in a girly pose just waiting to please the men and let the men do everything for her. Even if they mistreat or treats her like an object, she just remain as a pleasing toy for them that repeat nice words for them to hear. I mean its good to manipulate your oppressors. Thats why i love her younger self. But like... After her 8 year old self. This gets old. Cos she does Nothing, to use her manipulation to form a strong rebel group that focus on changing the opinions of the people that women can be strong. Even when she meets people as great as Freesia, all she does is fight with her over sexist Jinsu and then not meet her again. its ok to be weak at first. But like, the story is supposed to make her strong at the end. And i dont mean just physically strong. She could influence an army or a rebellion by using her charm to get people on her side. Right now, the number of dicks to vagina ratio is like 20 to 1. And that's a really fucked up ratio for a manhwa that talks about equality. Especially after 153 chapters. And i bet the story is gonna end with "She's not like other girls" tropes. Where all the women are useless, and only sanghee is the notable woman in the entire manhwa. And all she does is be a toy for men to play with. She always belong to someone, her father, her brothers, Jinsu, but never herself. Its like the author is using sexism as an excuse so that he or she wont have to draw actual interesting and strong female characters. This is inspiring me to draw a manhwa where another woman reincarnates into Sanghee and do everything right.

Now, you are being unfair. Sanghee works hard to charm those around her and that takes time. Having such stubborn and well embedded ideology is hard to change. I'm proud of her for getting this far. Her powers are slowly developing and I'm sure it will help her change the world. As for the "sexist Jinsu", you mean "the brain washed Jinsu". Once his memories are back he is back to his way of treating Sanghee as an equal and as the women he loves.
I feel like basically everyone is throwing a fit that the story isn't moving fast enough. As well as everyone is so busy yelling about how week she is that no one is understanding that there are different types of strengths. She has the strength to bite her tongue, bury her pride, suffer the humiliation and act a part in order to servive. I'd actually like to see any of you try to do that. WAAAAAAY hader then you would care to admit. I think in a world so unbalanced, Sanghee has accomplished a lot and is slowly changing the world around her. She got her entire class of boys to protect her in the pyramid. She won the hearts of the royal family and the staff around her.
She must have been terrified but she still looked at the crazed Jinsu, stood in his way, just so that she could properly tell him she loved him. Not because that would help him overcome the brainwashing and it was shallow, but because it was her biggest regret that needed correcting. That takes some mad balls.
Just because a women is not physically strong or a raging bitch monster, doesn't make her week. It means she has other strengths, and those can be the hardest to have. Basic kindness to everyone, selfcontrol, choosing to do the right thing even if it's hard, playing a role. Stop screaming about sexism when you are just the same because you believe a women needs to be strong in a man's way to be worth anything, and start appreciating how a women can be strong in a womanly way.

Imma have to side with BongoCat on this. Although what you're saying is true, it was only true at the start. The story has evolved to Sanghee becoming a weak female lead. She is no longer cunning. If anything, it feels like her character development has gone backwards. At the start we had a strong Sanghee. Now we just have weak crybaby Sanghee that everyone needs to protect. I expected more character development. With how plotting she was, I expected big power plays. In the end, it fell into a trope of "the brothers and father love the cute weak girl and will do anything for her but she doesn't know it". The story now is just what men around Sanghee are willing to do for her rather than what Sanghee does. There's a better balance in Daughter of the Emperor. The MC there is able to keep her personality throughout the years (while Sanghee just becomes a sheep with time), and she is able to overcome the wall where she thinks her father will kill her at any time quite young. It's also not just a story about what her father is willing to do for her, but about how the MC interacts with the people around her. The MC of Daughter of the Emperor is still very much undergoing character growth while Sanghee's character growth has been stagnated since around she started going to school.
Also, it's a real fact that female characters (whether for a female or male audience) are often made to be hella weak physically and mentally. Your average shoujo manga always has that crappy crybaby, cute, shy, needs to be protected female lead. That's complete bullshit. Females don't need to be meek, or reserved. We tired of the same of shit and that's why strong female characters are beloved.

I do see your point. But I also think it's a tad too soon to write her off as being useless from here on out. I can see why her manipulation of those around her and being cunning had taken a back seat with her now focusing on the powers she has and trying to understand then so she can use them. I think her presses and journey will be long one, so if you have patients for the long ride we'll see her grow into something stronger. Also, she is still cunning. She totally manipulated her father into allowing the trip and getting her broth on a rollercoaster. It may not be quite as plot driven and exciting as before, but she's still got it and can deffinently access it in the future when needed

"She totally manipulated her father into allowing the trip and getting her broth on a rollercoaster. "
I wouldnt be very proud of what a child can do, especially if its after 153 chapters. all her "manipulations" are so lazy, i feel like her character development has not grown up after her 8 years old?
By now I feel like Sanghee should be on another meta level of manipulation, influence and power. She doesnt need to fight, but I was expecting her to gain an attitude and work towards a secret plan that will dump a revenge so cold, her bros and father will need 1000 days of therapy. And you might say "what if she gets caught". Well, its a story! the author is supposed to work their ways around the setting so that Sanghee becomes powerful and Interesting. And if you read the raws, she loses all her "access" when she gets caught reading the books by her father. And she goes on trial.
And her uselessness shows. In that scene, it just feels like she has no personal or social quality to save herself. Her healing magic is no longer mentioned, and its also a lame skill. What, is she gonna heal people to death? She has no allies or secret supporters. The only option she's left is to pray enough that the men like her enough as a ego boosting toy to continue letting her lick their feet. It feels like the message of the story is, "if you are a woman, just Pray that you are pretty and cute enough for guys to favour you to get out of trouble"
I always remember that girls mean nothing where they are frm so anyone have any good feelings for her are just questioned... And besides... Love would exist so this would not really happen. Where there is hate, there is love.
