She is still 16. Personally I think the author did a good job balancing her maturity with her young insecure self. Anything romantic falls into that insecurity and that has stayed consistent from the beginning and she has not had a scenario yet that has given her a chance to mature in that aspect. This makes more sense with both their characters at this point because they have not completely opened up to each other.

Honestly I wish the author would just have made Kyoko mature enough to just have this conversation as herself with Ren and not use an scenario she's used several times. However I've always loved the scenes with Bo, the chicken and Ren. So at least this is better than what we had got for the last couple of years. I even laughed. Hopefully this is a turning point and this manga will get back on track. At least that's all I hope for.
