That was a joke from the author, telling us what it won't be about. And LiHuan isn't in the car anymore. It's been roughly a week since that scene. It would be hard to believe that absolutely nobody knows about a car accident that left two people in a coma (his dad would have to be in a coma as well because otherwise he would've contacted LiHuan's friends and the college).
Anyways, I think they will reunite during the new Year's party and that was what this scene was about. His dad told him that they wouldn't spend New Year here this time, making us believe that LiHuan won't show up but then he told his dad about someone he loves and they decided to stay so that he can meet him.
