Wooow we didn't get no development for such a long time and now everything's happening so fast in like 2 chapters... YuYang's introspection is kinda missing here (even tho we know he of course is regretting it, duh). I thought the comment section would point that out but everyone just seems excited about LiHuan and YuYang finally being in the same place at the same time again The new chapters are still a bit "clumsy" but I feel like DJUN got that spark back that made the story so fascinating in the beginning and I am so happy about it!
Also does anyone read DJUN's weibo? I kinda tried to google translate it and to me it looked like she was stuck with the script and that's why the red-head/uncle hiatus happened? Idk this time google translate was a mess so I am not sure but it looked like she wanted to re-write LiHuan's coming-out and then didn't know how to continue or/and struggled with the script in general? This could be totally off tho. If anyone of you knows chinese and keeps up to date with her weibo let me know!
I definitely feel sorry for DJUN... I think a loooong (like months) hiatus (if affordable) is the best option when you are stuck.. but who knows if that would have been even possible

Agreed. Djun needs to take some time off and meditate under a waterfall like anime protagonists do when they train. clear his mind about the script

I have to disagree - but i do understand where you're coming from. In my opinion, the way the author builds up the characters maybe slow to most - however, how the characters are starting to connect and influence one another is starting to make sense. If DJun made this into a light novel the development would not be deemed so slow. In a manga/manhwa, each scene takes longer to create, first planned in a storyboard and such (sorry, I've only been an observer, not an actual creator).

In the beginning the relations between the characters where not made obvious - but as the story progressed it clicked in. Yuyang needed something to jar him from his stubborn principle and perspective in life. If Red just blurted it out of the blue, because they fought, that itself, in my opinion would be a weak plot. Uncle was a good friend of Yuyang, of course he'd be upset when he saw the situation with Red and his ex. It was very Yuyang, considering his past and all. Uncle (Pan) was someone who was like a big brother, a very close friend that he could rely on when ever life was too much and stress just builds up.

Also, because Red's interaction with the ex, he starts to realize the empty relationships he's had, not just gf's, but friends - and most people in his life, because of how he handled those relationships himself. Red and Uncle's interaction is also different than most yaoi in such a way that their story isn't rushed - like wham. bam, thank you (ma'am or in this case, sir). Yes, yes - this is shounen ai - so i don't expect them smexy scenes (but we do all hope - and we got some pretty hot imaginations when the other starts suggesting stuff in the scenes).

If the relationship between Yuyang and Lihuan is going to be something that involves a lifetime with one another, Yuyang has to let go of his past pain - else he won't be able to fully appreciate and savory his time with Lihuan. I greatly admire Lihuan for realizing this early on - that he had to let Yuyang find himself (and discover the misconceptions he had created due to his past) and the path that would lead to him (Lihuan).

You know how in formal dinners you go thru several courses before the main course? This story is so much like that. Oooh, I can't wait what dessert will be too.

i have a feeling it was cuz a bunch of whining readers decided to complain about the pace to djunn and that's why they took a week off and shortened the arc so the couple can have a resolution to their story.

*two weeks off to be precise

Oh i didn't mean the 2 weeks hiatus but the entire uncle/red-head side story interlude the past few weeks (months already). i read some of her weibo entries from before the recent hiatus and she has been complaining about the script for quite some time now and it had something to do with lihuan's car coming out scene. as i read it she wanted to change the coming out. it could also be that she just complained about her weekly schedule. but when you look at the story it seems apparent that she suddenly made a cut and totally got sidetracked with the second couple.
some time ago when yuyang rejected lihuan she said she knows readers are gonna be upset but she wanna do it her way, so i thought she wouldn't let herself be influenced by the readers but of course it could be that it still influenced her in some ways.
    there were a lot of posts about readers comments and script changes... she seems to really struggle ;;
i think it's also super hard to stay motivated and passionate about a project when you have to deliver every week, no time for breaks and really developing the plot. i think she got bogged down along the way.

Did you reply to the wrong post by any chance? I didn't say it's slow, I said it's rushed lmao. I understand that red-head and uncle function as plot-devices but it was handled kinda clumsily, red-head making his assumptions about YuYang and screaming at him for example came kinda out of nowhere, same as YuYang regretting his decision to reject LiHuan. It both makes sense but for both situations we need a little more introspection or plot that leads up to this to really comprehend their thought-process. That's why I thought the last two chapters were rushed even though the main plot finally continues which I am happy about. And the uncle/read-head interlude definitely wasn't planned from the start as Djun was struggeling with the script, so it was more of a filler while she figured out how to continue with the main plot. The couple wasn't even planned from the start, same as the Huan-Wen side couple, since Huan-Wen was straight before. DJUN introduced both side couples after her Naver Webtoons Korea contract.
Still loooove the story, but the plot wasn't as smooth anymore for quite some time now bc Djun apparently struggled which is totally normal if you have to deliver every week, I couldn't do it.

I'm quite sure I am replying to the correct post. And, pardon my previous wording, most, not you personally, have complained of the slow development.

I find the pacing just right, but again, that's my opinion. Perhaps the author didn't plan to develop Uncle Pan's story at the beginning, however, the way that it was handled was perfect. Some side stories have readers clamor for a spin off after all. I prefer side couples to have a reason why they've encountered the protagonist rather than them just being fillers. So I look at the side couple as an element of the story more than just being fillers( but again that's my take on it). And imagine a story about a mature man who has for some reason shelved love, yet supports young (gay) men, but won't get into a relationship? The author has to be careful that the second story won't completely over shadow the main. Both have interesting plots.

Red's personality as an egotistical brat, in my opinion, was portrayed just fine. He does have a selfish streak that I think would not allow anyone to tell him off. He and Yuyang are both stubborn, but are polar opposites in personality. But both come off as not willing to back down from what they believe is right, specially if it's to defend/fight for an important friend/ person.

Writers have always struggled with their storytelling. Great writers even more so. They get hit with a gazillion possibilities, then they run into doubts. I won't speak about Djun being this or that - because I do not know the author personally. But I do give my support. The way this author brings out a reader's emotion, some probably screaming at times at their screen ( or that silent scream you do in your mind ), or the frustration and tears. The way Djun connects with the reader at times by inserting those funny pages. Or tease us with scenes of the future of our main couple. I've appreciated those.

As a reader, and again this is my opinion, I just like sitting back and reading as the writer weaves their stories. I think all good stories are a challenge to writers, even more so to a mangaka/webcomic writer - they have to illustrate it. And they are more prone to criticisms.
