Everyone is complaining about henry´s actions but tryto see it this way. This person has an unrequited fo a very long time, to the point thta it has shape his future and interests. So one day he decides to let it go (which is when the manga starts). Then he mets someone who slightly reminds him of his crush, but then he starts to develop interest about this new persn. And at the sam time his crush and long tome friend starts t feel pushed away and discover that his long time friend actually loves him and that loves him back, but decided to let go and start something with another person.
Of course you wuld feel confused, but that doesn´t mean you are toxic. Just plain human. We screw up more times, than we do things right.
How can he be sure to choose Sam when he decided to let go of his feelings. It´s got to be so confusing, at the same time it´s a huge risk. For the life long friendship, for himself, for his heart and changing the way he is used to live, completely.
It´s easy to say that he is toxic, but he is writen so real, that he can be any of us who follow this mangwa. With douts and insecurities. An above all longng for something for so long , that you decide to let go and the it´s in front of you. ¿how to know is not a whim?. You don´t, but e is more cerebral than impulsive as controrary to sam´s personality.
And he knows so... So please don´t be so hard on henry if it was me i´ll probably be a walking contradiction, because that´s what we do.
He either wants or dont want to be with Sam. If he doesnt know what he wants and doesnt make a choice, all that when he is an adult, that person is pretty much going to make so much trouble aka he is toxic.

Idk why Sam married and divorced so i can’t tell if he has been toxic with his ex. But i dont think Sam has been toxic towards Henry, Sam made his feelings clear and even though he is being pushy, he hasn’t been seriously rejected.
Dude he pulled up to his moms funeral talking bout their relashionship like bro he’s not in his right mind to say anything his mom fucking died, and the comment he made was manipulative too
Henry felt better after seeing Sam. I dont remember what Sam said but him coming to the funeral did help. And i didn't feel like he was trying to be manipulative, i’m pretty sure he was speaking his thoughts. He is trying to convince Henry that he loves him (because Henry didnt seem to aknowledge Sam’s feelings).
Ok I get it, he felt better after Sam showed up. But he didn’t need to start talking bout their relashionship problems right on the spot. And he said that if he didn’t date him to not bother to see him again, now that pissed me off since his mom just died and he expected him to be in his right mind to start speaking about relashionship things? Nope. He should pick another place to spill out his feelings that’s stupid.
It was not a good idea but it’s a manga and it doesn’t feel like talking about this during the funeral bothered Henry. And Henry still rejected Sam so it the situation didn’t made a change in Henry’s answer.
I’m just saying that’s an example of him being manipulative, and let me not mention more things.
Sam came to the funeral, he held Henry’s hand, he said he would always be there for Henry and he said they couldn’t be friends anymore.
Saying this is being manipulative is just wrong.
Even when Sam pretended to be sick to keep Henry by his side, it was pretty obvious it was fake (even Henry knew it but he stayed because Sam wanted Henry to stay).
Anyway, your interpretation of a manipulative person to for you to decide, but if thats all it takes to be considered *manipulative*, then almost everyone is manipulative.
Lets stop thinking about Seth for a sec and ask : Henry, why the fuck you reject Sam? You love him, you know it, he loves you, you know it.
Seriously, this has been going on for too long.
