And that still pisses me off to this day. I fucking dropped the novel because of this. I didn't need a lovesick male character, I needed a badass one. Plus, a grown ass KING (in mentality) was being swayed by a selfish little princess that wouldn't take no for an answer despite the guy's obvious lack of care was extremely annoying to read. She literally went, "I like you! If you don't like me back forget about our friendship!" and FUCKING SULKED. She forced her feelings and sulked! I hate Tess man.

She's hella annoying. I believe the later part of the story focuses on her, probably to make the readers like her more, but she is way too annoying for that. I liked the story until this part between them happened. It was seriously anti-climatic and frankly unnecessary considering how the story was plenty interesting already. I tell you, romance plots destroy adventure mangas. They always have and they always will. Thank God One Piece sticks to the shounen genre religiously.

In the novel, when Arthur got hurt unable to move his whole body, tess kissed him. Arthur felt conflicted about it being Tess is young and him having an old mentality but even so he didn’t hate it. Tess confronted him about it after and Arthur went on saying about his reasons (they’re too young etc.) and while he said this it also felt like excuses to him. Tess got mad and said something about him running away and closing off his feelings. Arthur realized that he was childish and tess was more mature on that aspect and thinking. He went to find tess and kissed her, he said that they should take it slow since they are still kids and all. As of now they have what you call a mutual understanding and will hold hands here and there but that’s all. the novel is still on going
