I know it’s not what you mean but the way you phrase it just bugs me. The world in this manhua hasn’t changed one bit. Remember how Jian Yi struggled with his feelings for his best friend? Because he knows the world is a cruel place. (I know it’s not the main reason but his world view unconsciously shaped his actions, similar to what ours do to us). On top of that, no gay person is “gay” all the time on the surface. We are just humans.
Uuuuuh have you forgotten the whole arc with Jian Yi struggling with his sexuality and feelings towards Xixi ? Him crying his eyes out because of it ? Him confessing ? Xixi thinking about it and answering it with a forehead kiss ?
(or Xixi drawing them under an "ai ai gasa" which is something where you draw yourself and your lover/crush, them hugging while promising to stay together ? ....)
Anyone actually looking at them can tell they're (unofficially?) together, not everyone needs to scream "I'm gay and dating him" to be gay, and especially in china it's not something they can be proud or loud about.

I wonder if this will develop into real BL one day because at first it definitely had a real BL vibe to it with the addition of action, but the universe seemed more 'unrealistic' if that makes sense. Now the story/universe overall is more on the realistic side but very concentrated on blurred lines bromance/shipping. So I wonder how this will turn out in the long run? Will it continue like this, or will they get together in an unrealistic very oldschool BL way with no question of sexuality, or will there be a realistic coming out moment or hint to it? I'm excited but it's gonna be 300 more episodes till we're going to find out
