To further explain, the couple is being attacked. Lewis made the sword formation to defend them, and this formation has the same lifespan of a star (the attack will last a billion years). In other words, they can't be attacked. This sword formation is defending their bodies, while their souls are going to the upper realm- a mysterious realm where gods dwell.

Oh but don’t forget, the swords also stop them from “running away”. Basically, leaving, so they might actually die if the MCs soles are away for long enough. I think anyway
