Actually i don't think its right to give the same age limit to everyone since everyone is different. Maybe my mind and body becomes adult at the age of 14 but its 17 for you. It really differs from person to person

18 is legally and adult, and I maybe can make a exception to and 18 year old with a 17 year old, but I’ll be damned if I let that go younger.

If an adult is saying that a 14 child can have the mind of an adult then that’s hella wrong.
It doesn’t matter if a child is mature, can look after themselves and others. They are still in school learning, their brains are still growing, and although they may be aware of dangers that lurk in the adult world, but that doesn’t mean they are experienced in spotting red flags when its aimed at them.
As seen in many cases of older men and women manipulating teens, when those teens grow up, they themselves tend to notice the red flags and manipulation techniques they couldn’t spot before.

So even if a child is mature that’s no excuse for an adult to make advances on them. If that person likes them that much they can wait until their “love” is all grown up, with their own opinion that isn’t so easy to mould to a grown ups preference.

Here’s a joke that goes against what you might be thinking. What’s the difference between 17 and 18? 5-10 years, even though I’m fine and others might be fine with her being 17 but not 16 even though it’s a year difference, it’s still not an adult either way. I would feel better if HE was younger because he’s ten years older than her, they should have made him like 22 or 24

I guess an 18 year old dating a 17 year old, in the argument I just put across is still considered wrong, I what probably swayed me is that there’s only one year difference.... and the idea that the couple (i made up in my mind) could’ve been together before one of them turned 18

I also agree on the fact that it would be easier to accept if the guy was younger. But the problem is there’s an extent to how young he can be, he’s a retired emperor so if he ruled at 16 (age of an adult in that world) at most his rule would be under 10 years. That ain’t long, that’s being generous and even then we don’t know when the man came into rule.
This is why you can’t really lower the guys age by a lot, either way I still think she should at least be 18.
