I also dislike the idea that either partner in a relationship would throw away anothers love and effort.
The only situation i can easily imagine this occurring though is when a love is unrequited. someone could simply not have feelings in return, or could be leading the other on.
(But this is DEFINITELY NOT something that is unique to men)
