I thought the same thing tbh. Like you have 2 kids to worry about. If by chance, he couldn't have succeeded(which he didn't), then you just fucked over yourself, and your kids. Honestly, atm all i care about is the mc. The father literally put her in a position where she is forced to put herself in danger.
I know this is gonna sound cold but that dad was a damn fool. He should have just chosen to spend the days she had left by her side rather than go break into the damn palace as a wanted man like some absolute idiot. Now, if your daughter doesn't manage to sort your dumb shit out, she's going to be left having lost both parents and a stepmother. She'll be an orphan left raising your newborn. That's pretty cruel. If anything he could have tried sending either his daughter or someone else is his place to request that medicine from the emperor. Was it hopeless? Pretty much. But at least it wouldn't result in so much potential death.
