I'm not fond of this concept either but I feel like the older brother was the initial replacement only for the boss to fall in love and then he went back to the younger brother. Because Honjou seemed to pay close attention to Akihito a lot before the brother came into the picture.

I agree. And the author did well with this concept with like how honjou noticed how the brothers smoked differently and their personality differences and he ended up liking how the younger brother does things.
Moving from one brother to other brother concept ...I just don't like it.....for me akihito still feels like a substitute for his brother....IDK....
